About the Item
This antique Khotan features a rosy coral ground with ivory, brown and pink accents. The axial design features the triple medallion, a motif od Buddhist origin, with secondary medallion’s and smaller floral and pomegranate motifs. Ivory and walnut brown borders with interlocking vine and floral motifs complete the design. Khotan rugs originate from East Turkestan. Influenced by the trade of the Silk Roads, they synthesize elements of Tibetan, Indian, Persian and Turkic traditions.
