About the Item

In this listing you will find a stunning, XXL Uzbek Mixed Technique Flatwoven Rug. The colorful quartered medallions, or ‘guls,’ with cruciform centers embroidered on this Central Asian flat weave are thought by most authorities to be the work of Lakai Uzbek weavers. This long embroidered piece, composed of multiple strips of red flat weave, may have been used to decorate the interior walls of the yurt or as a graphic and colorful utility cover. While the multiple gul design originated in pile weaving, its free rendering here is both playful and evocative. Made in today's territories if Uzbekistan in the early 20th Century. The rug is in good antique condition with some signs of time and use. When purchased the rug will be carefully wrapped up and packed in a way to avoid any damages in transport. As soon as shipped you will receive the tracking number for your package. If you have any additional questions regarding this piece please feel free to contact me. Happy shopping!
