About the Item
Hand knotted Yamut rug, woven in Uzbekistan circa 1900.
This antique Yamut displays a traditional tribal design featuring repeating diamond motifs in deep brown and navy tones, accented with ivory and soft rust highlights. The rhythmic geometric composition is characteristic of Yamut weaving, reflecting the nomadic aesthetic and balanced symmetry of Central Asian tribal art.
Woven entirely from wool, including both pile and foundation, the rug possesses a rich texture and organic sheen. Its natural dyes create warm earth tones that have aged gracefully over time, adding depth and authenticity to the piece.
Size: 10'0" × 6'11" (305 cm × 211 cm), a versatile size suitable for both decorative and functional settings.
Low pile, in good condition for its age. A fine example of 19th century Yamut craftsmanship, embodying the strength and beauty of nomadic weaving tradition.
