This mesmerizing modern rug represents a very successful merger of various traditional styles. It contains a great deal of Eastern-European aesthetics and an opulent border characteristic of the French weaving school. The main field, occupied by six wreaths with ribbons surrounded by delicate florals, is enclosed within a border that represents a lavish botanical garland with cartouche, cupids and architectural motifs. The rich, stylized pattern is rendered in an elegant color palette of light brown and gold with touches of mauve, purple, red and blue.
