Contemporary traditional European inspired Bessarabian rug by Doris Leslie Blau. Size: 10'0" × 14'2" (304 × 431 cm). The chic and beauty of this exquisite cotton flat-weave rug immediately reminds of the Baroque style of Versailles. How surprising it is to learn that it was not made in France, but in Bessarabia, a historical region between Ukraine, Russia and Moldavia. The rug’s elaborate pattern was inspired by traditional European design, with all its elegance and timelessness. First things that will catch your attention are six gorgeous bouquets on black backgrounds. The weaver likened them to delicate cameos (pieces of jewelry) and separated them with cross-like figures constructed of smaller parts. The frame limiting the design shares a flowery motif, mixed with seal-like white shapes. With the palette consisting of various shades of coral, beige light green and black, this Bessarabian modern stair carpet has a feminine aura to it, as subtle as a scent of perfume. This carpet doesn’t simply charm, it seduces, leaving one unable to forget about it.
