This vintage Samarkand (Khotan) rug from the 1940s is a distinguished example of East Turkestan textile artistry, celebrated for its cultural synthesis of Chinese, Persian, and Central Asian influences. Woven in soft wool, the rug showcases a remarkably subdued palette dominated by dusty rose, muted peach, and faded beige tones, lending the piece a sophisticated and weathered elegance.
The composition centers around a faded field of soft floral medallions and vine scrolls, arranged in a gentle all-over design that nearly dissolves into the neutral ground.
