About the Item
This is a Heriz rug made circa early 1900s. It has a large bold medallion in the middle surrounded by 4 bordering corner structures. The entire piece is highly stylized and consist of densely packed floral patterns. The colors are primarily reds, indigos, and gold. If you look closely you can see small fringes decorating the top and bottom of the rug.
Heriz rugs are similar to others of its era; they have large central medallions with corners of highly stylized floral motifs. The piles tend to be thick and the color palettes are rich in hue which are often made from natural dyes such as madder grounds and indigo.
