About the Item

Suzani has well saturated colors and a very finely done embroidery. ‘Suzani’ meaning ‘needle’ so ‘needle work ‘ in Persian, refgers to a group of embroideries mainly done in Central Asia, in countries such as, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan. Suzanies in todays textile literatüre are named after the place they were made in, Bukhara, Tashkent, Pishkent, Nurata, Ura Tube etc.. Each region had its own color pallete as well as a design pool. They were mainly made for the walls, as decorative items fort he home. The technique is used for some prayer mats, cradle covers, horse covers etc... In modern life setting, they could still make a statement on a Wall, could be used as bed covers, throws, sofa covers.
