About the Item
A beautiful contemporary design carpet, hand knotted using Sari silk (60%) and wool (40%).
Collection: "SUNSET" / Djoharian Design, inspired my Tibetan Tiger Rugs
This is a production sample piece, measures: 1 x 1 ft, comes with short fringes.
Fine highland wool and plush sari silk are hand knotted to create this fine modern piece of Art. Since the wool is cut low and the silk is a little higher it has a beautiful organic look,
Perfect for loft or Industrial modern rooms.
Please note: Sari silk is a recycled yarn made from Saris, traditional women dresses from India. These are cut in stripes and the rug is knotted using them. It is normal that with use some cut offs from the yarn will appear from the rugs pile. This gives these rugs a used and vintage look. If not liked these can be cut off with regular household scissors.

Due to the origin product - recycled sari silk dresses - each rug will be unique and please note that the colors will slightly be different in each piece.
This rug was created and made according to the label step Fairtrade carpets codex.

STEP was founded in Switzerland in 1995. As a charitable organization STEP has no commercial goals, rather it campaigns for the wellbeing of weavers and workers and the continued development of a sustainable carpet industry.

A Tibetan tiger rug, hand knotted in Nepal.
This traditional Tiger rug design is typically found on antique rugs called Khaden. It describes a small sized rug of about 3 x 6 ft that was used in Tibet to decorate columns or seat pad. Often these Khaden rugs had Lotus design or Tiger stripes. Many of them were made in a town called Kampa Dzong in Tibet, today in China. Tiger motifs are also found in antique Chinese rugs.
Our collection of Tibetan Tiger rugs is made in different material combinations. The displayed rug is made of 100% Tibetan hand spun wool.
