Hand knotted in wool and silk, 9x12 modern rug “Symmetry No. 05” hails from our Artist Collaboration collection, named for the abstract design of inspiration by celebrated modern artist Mark Rothko.
On the Design:
Rothko’s design is a meeting of abstract minimalist sensibility highlighting pink tones underscore an abstract design with watercolor-like washes of hues, almost like brushstrokes in a painting—adapted beautifully to this large size with the utmost attention to scale and texture making this immersive look. Subtlety is one of the many skillful details at work here, where such playful figures are executed in such a subdued manner that the movement is all the more intriguing and artful—a masterpiece in this way, as in its adaptation of refined geometry to this large-size, scale and texture, the finest in our craft today.
