Kilim. Each piece represents the work of women weavers in Afghanistan, preserving the rich tradition of their centuries-old craft.
On the design:
Admirers of the craft may appreciate design elements inherent to the Afghan tribal design in this piece. This piece enjoys rich midnight blue, black and silver/gray and beige/brown tones in the field. The colorway lends the more colorful medallions and geometric patterns a fabulous presence through positive-negative.
Keen eyes may further admire a mild textural detail in the pile, almost like a subdued high-and-low element in the pile, and a subtle sense of dimension therein that still plays so naturally with the movement and richness that underscores this piece.
