This 9x10 rug represents one of the most elegant, exceptional new designs by Rug
Kilim—the first of a bold series entitled “Breeze” and a unique bridge between modern and Chinese Art Deco rugs—made with hand-knotted silk in one of the most luxurious Nepalese pile constructions in high-end rugs today.
On The Design:
One of the many arts of the pattern here is its subtlety, where the bold tree figural is made of subtle color and texture variations—an artful use of a minimal palette composed of golds and beige-browns. Admirers of the craft will recognize the inspiration from Cherry Blossom trees and similar scenes of tranquility and harmony with nature, further speaking to the inspiration from rare Chinoiserie rugs of the 1920s, reimagined with a more modern sense of depth, dimension, and even tasteful abstraction in the subtleties mentioned prior. Keen eyes will further note the natural sheen of the silk which lends this piece a breath of life, a particularly elegant play of the light in any space, and a natural complement to its sense of movement born of the fine curves seldom seen in this large scale.
