About the Item
This 10x14 rug is a new addition to the flatweaves in Rug
Kilim’s award-winning Scandinavian rug collection, from a new, finer weave than our primary one and a new partner loom in our retinue. Made with handwoven wool and all-natural yarns, its design is inspired by mid-century Swedish minimalist and Art Deco rug and textile designs of the Rollakhan and Rya weaving traditions.
On the Design:
This refined interpretation of Scandinavian modernism presents octagonal motifs with exceptional technical precision in a sophisticated palette including but not limited to umber, slate, and ivory. Keen eyes for detail may note the piece's structural rhythm—parallel rose-toned bands provide architectural containment while floating dots create subtle dimensional play. Admirers of the craft may also note the blend of natural yarns complementing the varied hues with a striated look—a proprietary technique of ours both innovates and honors mid-century weaving techniques inherent to Scandinavian style. Our modern flat weave further enjoys our reputed, heavier body with buckle resistance and greater durability against foot traffic. A comfortable, sophisticated contribution to the Swedish Deco aesthetic that both innovates and honors mid-century Scandinavian rugs.
