Made with handwoven wool, this 4x6 Kilim represents an exciting new line of Modern Classics and contemporary flatweaves by Rug Kilim—a series of designs inspired by antique Suzani Kilims and textiles, among the richest weaving traditions in Central Asian history. On the Design: A profound deep charcoal and midnight black field serves as a dramatic, sophisticated canvas for a highly stylized, framed composition. The design immediately establishes its rhythm with a formal border-within-a-border structure, where both frames are richly adorned with small, colorful geometric motifs. The central field showcases large, abstract stylized floral motifs—including claw-like palmettes and elegant tulip forms—rendered in vivid, yet dusty, colors like soft powder blue, pale olive, dusty rose, and crimson. A central octagonal medallion connects the inner motifs, pulsing with a rainbow of small forms.
