Kilim’s Collection; from a newly curated line of unique pieces entering their vintage tenure, made with hand-knotted wool and originating from Pakistan circa 1970-1980.
On the Design:
This vintage design demonstrates exceptional compositional discipline through its systematic all-over pattern of repeating geometric medallions arranged in precise rows across the vibrant saturated red field. The signature gul motifs—stylized geometric forms—are rendered in contrasting and harmonious tones of soft pink, muted olive, and deep slate blue against the intensely warm ground. The medallions employ a structured diamond-within-a-diamond and cruciform configuration. Secondary geometric elements fill the negative space, maintaining coherence and traditional tribal density. Notably, the rug features a highly detailed, multi-band border system in shades of tan, navy, and soft pink, which frames the field beautifully.
