This 10x11 vintage Afghan Kilim is believed to be a traditional Ghalmouri rug, handwoven in wool circa 1970-1980.
On the Design:
Admirers of Ghalmouri Kilims may appreciate this as a rare flatweave—particularly in its large size and soft colors. Beige and cream tones underscore gold and light blue geometric patterns of an almost neutral presence. Such a gentle, forgiving look is a departure from the deep, saturated colors known to this and many other provenances in Afghan tribal rugs and Kilims alike. It’s a collectible, finely woven piece—comfortable and spacious, like few in its period known today.
