On the Design:
Emerging from the nomadic artistry of the Larkhabi region in Afghanistan, this piece is woven using the revered Soumak flatweave technique. This meticulous wrapping of the weft threads imparts a subtle, braided texture and sculptural depth, setting it apart from traditional kilims. The design is characterized by its dramatic elongation and a deep, complex field of chocolate brown and warm earth tones. Horizontal bands feature a repeating, rhythmic sequence of stylized 'X' shapes and diamond motifs, bursting with high-contrast colors like hot fuchsia, goldenrod yellow, and lavender. The organic, undulating stripe edges authenticate its tribal heritage.
