About the Item
In this listing you will find a rare, stunning hand-knotted Turkmen saddle bag or floor pillow case. The field is typically quartered by a thick central band, with the four quadrants filled with small repeating geometric figures. The design is known as "hatchli" and is characteristic of Turkmen tribes like the Tekke. Originating from Turkmenistan and surrounding regions such as Afghanistan, these rugs are woven by skilled Turkmen weavers. Made in cca. 1950s.
Very good vintage condition with little signs of time and uss.
