Antique Chinese - Ningxia Chinese Ivory 1930s Rug, Circa Date: 1930s. This exceptional example of early 20th-century Chinese weaving presents a striking visual narrative. The field is dominated by a pale, luminous ground, characteristic of the finest ivory color rugs from the period. The contrast between the soft ground and the deep cobalt blue of the figures is immediate and powerful, creating a dramatic focal point.
The central medallion and surrounding spandrels feature five intricately rendered dragons, traditional symbols of power and good fortune, depicted amidst stylized clouds and mystical pearls.
