About the Item
The border-less open royal blue field shows a large and a small floral bouquet diagonally opposed, but linked by a continuous sketchy light blue cloud meander, almost like smoke from a dying fire. The flowers from the large bouquet trail off into the wavering meander. The blue is lighter than navy. Good condition, great size. Measures: 11'0" x 17'10".
This magnificent example of early 20th-century weaving features a profound, saturated indigo field, setting a dramatic stage for the delicate artistry of the design. The deep hue places it among the most sought-after blue color rugs of the period.
The composition is defined by its elegant asymmetry, characteristic of the Chinese Art Deco movement.
