1920s Chinese Art Deco Carpet ( 9' X 11'8" - 274 X 355 )
This unusual carpet is a study in tone-on-tone blue combinations: the medium blue field palmettes on a sapphire blue ground; the lighter blue border scrolls and rosettes on a dark royal base. In the lower right corner a vase with verdant bouquet sets on an elaborate stand. This enticing northeastern Chinese Art Deco carpet was woven in Tientsin in the late 1920s.
This mid-20th century Chinese Art Deco carpet presents a striking design that pairs elegance with cultural symbolism.
