A rich red predominates and the tone-on-tone needs a second look to be appreciated. Two round and crescent-shaped floral arrays float in opposite corners of this nearly Minimalist carpet from Tianjin, northeast China, from the 1930s. The floral motives seem to float in front of the wine-red ground.
