This circa 1870 Chinese Peking carpet has an elegant and spacious layout.
Stylized dragon medallions float upon an ivory field, guarded by layers of Greek Key borders and enclosed within a sold brown major border.
Kangxi style refers to the art (especially porcelain) produced during the reign of the Qing dynasty Emperor Kangxi (1661-1722), considered a golden age for Chinese ceramics - and this carpet embraces the essence of that style.
