About the Item
During the Art Deco period many European and American designers commissioned their patterns to the Chinese manufacturers located in Tianjin and Beijing. Some designs, such as this one, show a combination of European sensibility together with a Chinese influence. The field is distinguished by a tone-on-tone pattern of stylised leafs, with only the corners being embellished by architectural motifs. Arranging the design in such a way as to leave an empty center is characteristic feature of the Art Deco style, as it allows to place furnishing at the center without obstructing the beauty of the rug. The result is a sturdy weaving with a gamut of highly decorative colours expressing refinement and timeless elegance.
