This antique, circa 1900, Khotan runner has a central field with nine horizontal polychrome panels each containing a vase issuing a floral vine with a stepped arch above with angular key-pattern arches, surrounded by a light grey and burgundy-red key-pattern stripe, outer light grey and burgundy-red plain stripes. Antique Khotan rugs are exquisite handwoven textiles originating from the ancient city of Khotan, located along the Silk Road in what is now the Xinjiang region of China. These rugs are renowned for their unique blend of Chinese, Persian, and Central Asian design elements, reflecting the cultural diversity of the region.
