About the Item
This antique traditional Indochinese floral rug has a culturally distinct combination of colors and imagery. The ornate medallion patterns of fearsome, rolling dragons are traditional symbols of power, honor, and dignity. The color plays into the significance of the imagery because golden dragons among ruyi clouds—as seen in the medallions—are ancient Chinese omens of good fortune and great prospects. Both the field and inner border feature gold and black Chinese right-angle characters, while the outermost border depicts many sharp lotus floral accents. This piece features thick hand knotted wool pile, a spaciously large and finely woven piece full of meticulous cultural imagery. Quick and easy to clean.
