Antique Chinese Art Deco Rug, attributed to Walter Nichols. This hand-knotted, wool, room-sized rug features a color-blocked field and border in Mustard, Plum and Lavender. Detailed sprays of florals, lotuses, peonies, chrysanthemums, and plum blossoms on delicate tables, vases and bowls. Whimsical butterflies in intense jewel tones flutter across the field. We had this professionally cleaned and it has remained wrapped, and in excellent condition since that time.
This exceptional piece reflects the imaginative spirit of early twentieth-century Art Deco design, blending bold color with elegant natural imagery. Its soft wool pile, luminous palette, and balanced composition make it perfect for modern spaces.
