This early 20th-century, hand-woven Chinese Deco rug has a royal-blue field with a variety of delicate polychrome floral sprays at one end, together with butterflies and birds, at the other end to one side a delicate floral tendril vine forming a semicircle enclosing stylized hill tops with perching houses, boats and further hilly ranges, the broad raspberry-red border with swimming ducks, water lilies and polychrome floral stems, in a plain royal-blue outer stripe.
