This antique Beijing rug from Northern China has an eau-de-nil field with an overall design of scattered ivory, golden-brown and indigo-blue flowerheads issuing angular leafy tendril vine stems surrounded by scattered butterflies,in a caramel-brown border of temple motifs linked by eau-de-nil alternatively facing dragon motifs and flowerheads an inner interlocking T-shaped motif stripe, outer plain eau-de-nil stripe.
