About the Item

This elegant Chinese carpet utilizes a traditional Chinese medallion surrounded by auspicious motifs including scholars’ scrolls, plants and butterflies. The spacing of ornament within the ivory field is particularly well balanced and harmonious, as is the lotus and vine-scroll drawn in the main border. Of particular interest is the minor border composed of small fu bats, an auspicious symbol thought to bring prosperity.
