About the Item

Peking Rug, 1st Quarter 20th Century Chinese carpets are renowned for their refinement bordering on simplicity. This elegant Peking carpet combines a classic central fret medallion with matching corner pieces set against an open light-grey field. The color is restricted to two tones of indigo blue. A stylized circular ‘shòu’ character meaning ‘longevity’ (simplified Chinese: 寿; traditional Chinese: 壽) is used at the center of the medallion and rotates with an elongated form of the same character against a white border.
