About the Item
This exceptional flat-weave carpet of Indian manufacture, from the early 20th century, is very rare.
The design is inspired by the palace rugs of the Safavid tradition, with a refined combination of colors. The border is wide and decorated with medallions and gives this rug an even more regal aspect. The dimensions suggest that it is a carpet made on commission for a representative environment. The sober but at the same time very rich style is enhanced by the chromatic choices ranging from madder red to a soft blue, passing through various shades of pink.
