About the Item

Made with hand-knotted wool originating from India circa 1910-1920, this 11x12 antique Axminster rug features a design that looks to be an Indian interpretation of the English Axminster style; a rich collectible piece among the most exciting new curations from Rug Kilim. Admirers of the craft will particularly note what a special find this rug is, both for its exceptional craftsmanship and furthermore in its marriage of European and Oriental design elements, which students in our field know to yield some of the most interesting rugs of any provenance. A cream field underscores floral patterns in ochre gold and pink hues, with burgundy red accents matching those in the border the keen eye will further admire.
