Hand knotted in India originating between 1890-1900, this antique Amritsar wool rug enjoys a marriage of traditional appeal with a distinct artisan finesse appealing to a variety of classic and transitional interiors. The meticulous attention to detail between the pink and beige hues between the geometric-floral medallions and the field plays well off the mild, very chic wear and subtle transition of deeper and lighter background hues, complemented by a dancing medley of sharply drawn motifs in perfect symmetry. Namely the use of the deeper hues to highlight the lighter tones shows an expert attention to dimensionality complementing the inviting symmetry, creating a very warm but dignified, grand piece lending conversational rarity and visual capture to a project.
