This antique, circa 1900, Indian Agra rug has a charcoal-black field with a delicate flowerhead vine around a central soft terracotta cusped medallion containing a central ivory lozenge surrounded by charcoal-black split-palmette vine issuing delicate flowerhead, the medallion issuing delicate polychrome lozenges with hanging lamp motifs at each end, the soft terracotta spandrels similar issuing delicate polychrome floral lozenges, in a broad charcoal-black border with a delicate flowerhead and dot-motif pattern around cherry-red floral cartouches linked by lime-green floral palmettes, an inner cherry-red floral vine stripe, outer ivory and a soft terracotta meandering floral vine stripes.
