Antique Kashmiri Indian Chain-Stitch Embroidered Wool Textile C.1900
A finely worked antique Kashmiri chain-stitch embroidered textile depicting birds within a richly detailed pastoral landscape of birds, flowering plants, water and rolling hills. The imagery reflecting Persian and Mughal influence.
Hand-embroidered in wool on a cotton ground with a dense ari stitch. A softly muted palette of greens, ochres, blush tones and natural ivory.
A beautifully preserved and highly decorative example of a folk art textile, well suited as a wall hanging.
In excellent condition commensurate with age.
