About the Item

This antique Lakai embroidery, dating from 1900–1925, is a superb example of the bold textile tradition of the Lakai people of Central Asia. Known for their dramatic and expressive designs, Lakai embroideries often feature angular motifs, stylized flora, and protective symbols rendered in strong contrasting colors, creating a striking visual impact. Worked in cotton thread on a sturdy ground, these embroideries were used for both practical and decorative purposes, from household adornment to ceremonial display. The age of this piece adds to its character, with the patina of time enhancing its authenticity and making it a rare and collectible representation of early 20th-century Lakai craftsmanship. Size - 1' 6" x 3' 3" Color - Multi-Color Type - Uzbek **Certified and recognized as a “child labor free” rug company.
