Antique Long Indian Dhurrie Rug, Early 20th Century A multiple-prayer niche carpet is known as a ‘saf’. This long Indian cotton dhurrie saf is colorfully woven in a soft palette of diverse colors including greens, blues, gold and rose. Dhurries are cotton Indian flat weaves often used as summer carpets. This dhurrie saf uses a repeat design with several types of prayer niches incorporating domes and arches. Dhurries as colorful as this are more rare than the prevalent monochromatic examples. This remarkable piece integrates exceptional color with a diversity of designs and fabulous scale and size.
