This Baluch band is a fine example of tribal weaving from the Baluch people of eastern Iran and western Afghanistan. Typically used as a decorative fastening for bedding rolls or animal trappings, such bands combine utility with striking artistry. Woven in durable wool, they feature elongated geometric motifs, often in deep, earthy colors accented with contrasting tones that highlight the weaver’s sense of rhythm and balance. The narrow, linear format allows the repeating patterns to create a flowing, almost architectural effect, reflecting both the nomadic lifestyle and the strong cultural identity of the Baluch tribes.
