About the Item
Indian carpets demonstrate very high knot density, fine weaves, and crisp designs testament to the exemplary workmanship of Indian weavers. The sub-continent is also blessed with a diverse set of natural dye sources that contribute to the many color palettes found in Indian carpets.
With extensive uses of curvilinear, botanical motifs and subdued and serene colors, Amritsar carpets are some of the most sought-after carpets by interior designers and collectors alike. Very finely woven, Amritsars are known as ‘luxury carpets’ and occupy a significant place in Western markets.
A rare dusty rose background is the unique identifier of this piece. Inlaid on the background is a central medallion with accompanying pendants on all 4 sides. On all 4 corners one can find muted cream-colored spandrels with stylized botanicals, flowers, and tendrils. The border is multi-layered with dusty rose, navy blue and pastel yellow. A palatial piece that can blend seamlessly with furniture without being neither too imposing nor too passive.
