Taara Ri Chunari
Taara Ri Chunari is a stunning creation by a dynamic mother-daughter duo, Santosh and Rinku. Their weaving sessions are filled with joy and creativity, with Rinku infusing vibrant energy into their work. She constantly challenges her mother to break away from traditional patterns. Rinku, always bubbly, plays fast music as they work, claiming that the faster the beats, the more motivated she feels to weave. Santosh often laughs at her daughter's mischief. This hand-knotted rug is adorned with intricate designs of star-embedded chunari, inspired by a chunari Santosh loves to wear and plans to pass on to Rinku when she gets married. Initially, their designs were very decorative. However, midway through, Santosh decided to introduce bold and beautiful chaukadi (four-sided medallions). Rinku found this too structured and decided to bring her own inspiration to the right side of the rug. Rinku drew inspiration from the beautiful tent setup they call as pandaal made up of bamboos she saw during the havan yatra of a spiritual guru they both admire. This cultural inspiration is depicted in the most unique way in their rug. Despite the dynamic elements in their rug, the mother-daughter duo named their carpet, ""Taara Ri Chunari"" (Star-Studded Chunari), in honor of Santosh's beautiful head drape, adding a touch of tradition to their innovative design.
