About the Item
Unusual and unique hand knotted decorative carpet. This outstanding carpet has been knotted in cotton foundation and wool pile. The decoration runs all over the carpet without any border. The combination of the colors is very sophisticated and meticulously elaborated. The background of this carpet is dominated by two rows of circular motifs rich in very complex and well-modulated decorations, surrounded by intricate decorations, enhanced and highlighted by the empty spaces of the brown background. In this carpet, there are many influences of oriental culture, such as the "stylized leaves" motif and the pendants of the circular elements. The play of contrasts enriched by the elaborate decorations, create a very interesting optical effect recalling the ancient European Renaissance velvets and the ancient Ottoman fabrics. This carpet, one of a kind, is suitable for very large environments, favoring marble and wooden floors.
