About the Item

The extraordinary and unique quality of this carpet shows the skill and creativity of the weavers of Agra in the 19th century. The oversized size of this rug indicates that it was ordered by European nobles. The special design and color of this carpet are specifically inspired by the Safavid carpets of Isfahan that were woven during the reign of Shah Abbas. The house of this beautiful carpet was formerly the Goethe Museum in Düsseldorf, Germany. Indian Oversized Agra rugs are the most exclusive and sought after of all handmade carpets. The measurement of this piece is 778 x 885 cm in size.
