Kilim is inspired by vintage and antique Afghan rugs of tribal provenance.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft may further note an influence from Kazak rugs in this design, as if inspired by a rare piece of cultural marriage between Caucasian and Afghani rugs and flatweaves in nomadic sensibilities. Keen eyes for detail may admire this rug’s dense, elaborate design in field and border alike, with geometric patterns, a large-sized medallion and primitivist motifs in a wide range of rich colors. Though its polychromatic colorway is one of its inherent beauties—an impressive range of colors with fabulous movement meant to recapture the look and feel of these classic inspirations—there are especially present black, red, gold, and beige-brown tones among the many at play.
