Kilim’s Modern Classics Collection—a sophisticated and elegant new approach to a historic style.
On the Design:
This contemporary interpretation of traditional block printing presents an allover pattern of stylized boteh motifs in brown and off-white against a beige-taupe field. The design achieves elegant simplicity through measured spacing of the paisley-like forms, each rendered with a subtle variance. A minimal border frame in matching brown provides quiet containment, while the monochromatic palette creates a sophisticated dialogue between pattern and texture that speaks to both artisanal techniques and modern design sensibilities.
The block printing process is one of the oldest in textile design and has seen many adaptations. Many of our designs draw on time-honored, archaic designs, such as 17th-century Mogul rug patterns that allow admirers of the craft to make their own personal connection. Our contemporary approach features a subtle high-low texture, a luxurious wool-and-silk blend that beautifully catches the light, and a fresh color palette. As with all our custom collections, comfort and quality remain paramount.
