Hand-knotted in wool and silk, this 8x10 rug design is a bold addition to the Block Print line of Rug Kilim’s Modern Classics Collection—a sophisticated and elegant new approach to a historic style. On the Design: This piece features a gray field with noticeable striae underscoring an all over repeat of floral patterns in cool grisailles blue and slate tones. Though this form represents a more minimalist approach, admirers of the craft and keen eyes will note inspiration from the many provenances known for repeating floral patterns in dense, deftly woven designs as this—a thoughtful and elegant new take on a traditional look. The luxurious wool-and-silk blend further creates a more elegant play of the light. The block printing process is one of the oldest in textile design and has seen many adaptations.
