Kilim’s Modern Classics Collection—a sophisticated and elegant new approach to a historic style.
On the Design:
This piece features a graceful gold field with green and pink hues underscoring an all over repeat of floral patterns. Though this form represents a more minimalist approach, admirers of the craft and keen eyes will note inspiration from the many provenances known for repeating floral patterns in dense, deftly woven designs as this—a thoughtful and elegant new take on a traditional look. Furthermore, the subtle high-low texture married to the floral patterns makes for an added sense of dimension, and the luxurious wool-and-silk blend creates a more elegant play of the light. The block printing process is one of the oldest in textile design and has seen many adaptations. To wit, our designs draw on time-honored, even archaic designs, such as 17th-century Mogul rug patterns that allow admirers of the craft to recreate old-world charm within any space.
