Hand-knotted in a special blend of Ghazni wool, this 3x4 rug from the custom-classics Burano Collection by Rug
Kilim is inspired by mid-19th-century antique Caucasian rug design—particularly one of Kuba provenance.
On the Design:
This rug is a vivid tapestry of tribal symbolism, drawing direct inspiration from the clear drawing and sophisticated geometry characteristic of Caucasian Kuba provenance. The central field is rendered in a soft, striated sage green/celadon, which serves as the backdrop for a powerful, centralized Tree of Life motif. This sacred figure is defined by strong, stylized branches in both mustard yellow (at the top) and rich red (at the base).
Keen eyes will note the minimalist geometric interpretations of pictorial designs woven into the field and emerging from the central tree, which keen eyes will recognize as tribal illustrations of animals—with those here most closely resembling abstract dogs, horses, or birds. The border system is complex and warm, featuring guard bands of geometric diamonds and stylized motifs in deep brick red and warm browns.
