Hand-knotted in a special blend of Ghazni wool, this 3x5 rug from the custom-classics Burano Collection by Rug
Kilim is inspired by antique Caucasian rug designs of the late 19th century.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft may note the large-scale medallions in the field are known as Lesghi stars—named for the Lesghian tribes of the northeast Caucasus, though the motif has been seen as early in history as ancient Greece. A play of warm, bright tones of red, gold, and cream underscore these and the many other geometric patterns at play, with navy blue accents in kind. The use of Ghazni wool further lends a particularly soft, comfortable texture and tactile beauty to the design. It’s one of many intentional, personal contributions to a traditional aesthetic for a more contemporary level of comfort, and one of the many beauties that makes this collection a sophisticated, smart new language in design.
