Made with hand-knotted wool, this 3x12 contemporary runner represents a bold and exciting new line in Rug Kilim’s Chinese Art Deco rug collection—among the first of the “Komorebi” design series and its unique approach to the 1920s Chinoiserie sensibility and similar movements. On the Design: “Komorebi” translates from the original Japanese to “sunlight filtering through trees”, but it’s as much a spiritual and poetic term referring to the evocative, emotional response to this feeling of beauty and serenity. In this piece, a cream field and taupe border underscore floral patterns and Greek Key geometric patterns in the same hues, with gold and brown accents further playing into the immersive, yet impressionistic approach to ‘shadows’ in this design. Admirers of the craft will appreciate the deft hand it takes to approach this subtlety and dimensionality in such fine curves and a refined texture.
